I usually wear an 8 1/2 (medium width) size shoe or boot. The last time I bought a rubber boot (not a Hunter brand) and found that there were no half sizes, I bought a size 9, and it was just a little too large. They would slip up and down on me when walking or working. However, I found that my Hunter original boots (size 8) fit fine. I have worn them with thin socks and medium heavy socks together, and that has worked for me in our very cold weather. A heavy wool sock might be a little tight. I haven't tried that yet.
